Wrong dog euthanized at West Virginia animal shelter, investigation underway PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (WOWK) -- A West Virginia family is grieving the loss of their dog after they said he ran away, was brought to the county shelter, and accidentally euthanized.Taylor Withrow told Nexstar's WOWK that her 9-year-old lemon beagle mix, Eli, ran away. Withrow said she posted pictures of Eli on Facebook hoping that neighbors saw him.A person in the neighborhood found Eli and brought him to the Putnam County Animal Shelter, Withrow said. 8-year-old boy missing after falling off boat in Lake Travis; Crews switch to recovery mode Editor’s Note: The video above shows KXAN News Today’s top headlines for July 3, 2023TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas (KXAN) — Search crews are looking for a child who fell off a boat in Lake Travis Monday afternoon and didn't resurface, Austin-Travis County EMS wrote on social media.The 8-year-old boy went missing at around 2 p.m. Monday, the Travis County ESD 1 shift commander told KXAN. The boy was not wearing a life jacket at the time.The incident happened in the Cow Creek Arm of Lake Travis, ATCEMS wrote. The Pedernales Fire Department called the incident an "active situation."Crews have now switched to recovery mode, according to the Travis County ESD 1 shift commander. The Travis County Sheriff's Office has since taken over the investigation.Several other agencies are assisting in the search, including Lake Travis Fire Rescue and STAR Flight.

(WNCN) — A Charlotte, North Carolina amusement park has closed its tallest roller coaster after someone spotted an apparent crack in one of its support beams. In a statement, the park, Carowinds, identified the coaster as Fury 325—advertised as the world's tallest and fastest "giga roller" coaster. Man drowns in Big River at Rockford Beach JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. - One man drowned Sunday evening in the Big River at Rockford Beach.According to a spokesperson for the High Ridge Fire Protection District, firefighters were called to Rockford Beach shortly after 7:45 p.m. for a possible drowning.Firefighters were told an adult man had been jumping from a nearby bluff and hadn't been seen in nearly an hour or so. It is unclear if anyone saw the man go under. Ameren customers still without power in Missouri and Illinois after weekend storms Rescuers deployed a boat and drone to search the river and shoreline to locate the man. They also used sonar equipment where the man had been jumping.The Missouri State Highway Water Patrol arrived to assist with the search, which was called off at 11:30 p.m.On Monday morning, firefighters and the water patrol returned to Rockford Beach. At 10:35 a.m., searchers located and recovered the man's body.The man's name has not been released, pending notification of family members.
