Hochul calls to speed up work authorization for migrants

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Governor Kathy Hochul is continuing her calls for the federal government to speed up the process for asylum seekers to work legally here in the United States. Republicans however have some concerns. "We need all levels of government to respond to this. We truly, truly do," said Governor Hochul. She has once again called on the federal government to send more money, open shelter locations on federal property, and to speed up the work authorization process for asylum seekers here in New York State"There are over 5,000 farm jobs. 5,000 farm jobs as we speak. The cows don’t wait to be milked, the plants don’t wait to be maintained and harvested in a few months— the crops. New bill could close loopholes in vehicle breathalyzer law

ALBANY, N.Y. (WTEN) -- As prom and graduation seasons are underway, many local police departments are adding patrols to prevent impaired and reckless driving. At the Capitol advocates and lawmakers are pushing for a bill that would expand the use of ignition interlock systems, which supporters say would prevent impaired driving. Which states have the drunkest drivers? "Innocent lives are being taken and if they’re not innocent lives being taken they are having the most horrible life altering injuries that you can never possibly get over," said Erica Linn, who's parents were killed at the hands of a drunk driver in 2016. It was the drivers first DWI offense, but lawmakers say 70% will drive drunk again. "So we have to stop the carnage in our streets which is why it is so urgent," said Linn. KINGSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- On Monday, New York State Police of Greenwich arrested a Whitehall man for felony drug possession in Kingsbury. Police stopped the suspect, Jesse J. QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Queensbury woman has been arrested following a burglary investigation, according to State Police. Roxanne Gordon, 34, is facing multiple charges. At 7:55 p.m. on May 21, State Troopers responded to a home in Queensbury for a report of a burglary in progress. The investigation determined that Gordon was seen attempting to force entry into a residence using a burglar's tool, which caused damage to the house. A nearby good Samaritan tried to intervene, which prompted Gordon to allegedly attempt to strike the person with the tool. Twitter stiffed Boulder office cleaners out of $94K, firm says

Twitter Inc., the social media giant that was evicted from its Boulder office in December, is now accused of stiffing the office’s cleaning company on the way out.Avalanche Commercial Cleaning, of Boulder, sued Twitter on Thursday in Boulder County District Court as it tries to collect $93,504 from the $20 billion company.Avalanche said it was hired by Twitter in mid-2015 and kept 1301 Walnut St. clean from then until Dec. 19, 2022, when Twitter terminated its contract and asked Avalanche to send an invoice for the cleaning it had done in October, November and December.Avalanche said it sent that invoice but Twitter never paid it.
